Brief
2022's Singapore Issue traces the development of Singapore society and masquerades as a pseudo-architecture manual. Design should appear scientific and pedantic, with an inspection-like element as well.
About Project
The Society Builder's Handbook is a folder containing various documents to review Singapore's progress as a nation, including potential areas for improvement. To create a faux folder in book form, we opted for kraft paper and dividers with protruding tabs. This gives the tactile experience of leafing through a folder to find the sections. Each section also references certain elements of official documents: from floor plans to ancient maps to inspection reports, pulled from different time periods and scopes of interest.
This project holds a lot of nostalgia (and probably will continue to) as it's my first magazine that I've design led. Pulling it together was a cumulative effort of other designers, editors, writers, art director and director, and while there are definitely much room for improvement in the final outcome, this would be one of the projects that will have a lasting imprint in my memory. Below are some of my favourite sections, some are illustrated by myself, unless stated otherwise.
