WRITE FOR KINDNESS

Back in my second year of junior college, my tutor, seeing that I had an interest for children's books, encouraged me to sign up for Singapore Kindness Movement's Write for Kindness competition. Partnering with two other Literature students, we came up with a firefly-themed story about 'kindness, it is up to us'.

We aimed for the big prize but we missed it; but this book got us to Best Illustration instead! And I was ecstatic to note that the original prize list did not include that, so it was a surprise win for us all!

It was a wonderful opportunity working with others from the conceptualisation of the story, all the way to the finishing. It was a month of hectic painting on top of preparations for A Levels and Art coursework, but the emotional reward
was unquantifiable.
